1. Payment Terms
Payment is due in full when the work is finished, unless we agree something different in advance.
I accept:
- Cash
- Card
- Bank transfer
- PayPal
Business rates apply when the work is for a business, including when payment is made using a company card or company account.
For business customers paying by invoice, payment is due within 14 days of the invoice date.
2. Late Payments
I am a one-man business, so being paid on time really matters.
If payment is late, I may add interest of 8% a year above the Bank of England base rate.
For business customers, this is the legal rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, plus the fixed compensation that law allows.
If I have to take steps to recover an unpaid bill, you agree to pay my reasonable costs of doing so, including court fees.
3. Collecting Your Device
If you drop your computer off with me, I will keep it safe until the work is paid for.
I return repaired devices once payment has been made in full.
4. Uncollected Devices
Please collect your device soon after the work is done.
If a device is left with me for more than 60 days despite reminders, I may charge a reasonable storage fee.
After 180 days, and after giving you written notice, I may sell or safely dispose of it to cover what is owed. Anything left over is returned to you.
5. No Fix, No Fee Guarantee
If I cannot fix your computer problem, you do not pay for the work.
However: You still need to pay the callout fee. This covers my travel time and costs.
6. Callout Fees
Callout fees are non-refundable. They cover my travel to your home.
The fee depends on where you live in London:
- Brixton area: £10
- Nearby areas (Clapham, Streatham, etc.): £20
- Central areas (Westminster, Battersea, etc.): £30
- Further areas (Kensington, City of London, etc.): £40
Tip: You can avoid the callout fee by bringing your computer to me in Brixton, by appointment.
7. Your Data
I take great care with your data. However, I recommend you back up your important files before any repair work.
I will always take reasonable care, but I cannot guarantee data safety during repairs. I will always try to save your data where possible.
8. Guarantee
All repair work comes with a 6-month guarantee.
This means if the same problem happens again within 6 months, I will fix it for free.
The guarantee does NOT cover:
- New or different problems
- Physical damage
- Problems caused by things you did
- Getting a virus again
9. Time Estimates
I will give you an estimate of how long the work will take.
These estimates are my best guess. Sometimes problems take longer to find or fix than expected.
10. Parts
If your computer needs new parts, I will talk to you about the options and costs first.
Parts are paid for up front. This is in addition to the work charge.
If a part was ordered specially for your job and cannot be returned to the supplier, I cannot refund it.
11. Bookings, Cancellations and Missed Appointments
All my work is by appointment only. This is true whether I come to you or you bring your computer to me in Brixton.
I do not run a drop-in or walk-in service.
A booked time is a firm commitment on both sides. I keep that slot for you and turn other work away.
If you need to cancel or change your appointment, please tell me at least 24 hours before.
If I message you before an appointment to check it is still going ahead and you do not reply, I may treat it as cancelled and give the slot to someone else.
If I travel to you and you are not there, or you cancel or miss an appointment with less than 24 hours' notice, you must pay the callout fee for your area.
If you miss a drop-off appointment in Brixton, a £20 missed-appointment fee applies.
Life happens. A genuine one-off is never a problem.
Repeated late cancellations or no-shows are different. After a second one, I may refuse further bookings, or ask you to pay the fee in advance before I book you in again.
12. Liability
I am not responsible for indirect losses, such as:
- Loss of income
- Loss of business
- Loss of data beyond the cost of the repair
The most I can be held liable for is the amount you paid me for the work.
13. Pre-existing Problems
I am not responsible for problems that were already there before I started work.
Sometimes fixing one issue can reveal other problems that were already present. These are not covered by my guarantee.
14. Software Updates
I am not responsible for problems caused by:
- Windows updates
- Driver updates
- Other software updates
- Software installed before or after my work
These updates can sometimes cause new issues that are outside my control.
15. Right to Decline or Stop Work
I am a one-man business and sometimes have to say no.
I may turn down a job, or stop work I have already started. For example:
- If I am asked to do something I believe is against the law
- If a device does not seem to belong to the person asking
- If I am treated abusively
If I stop a job partway, you only pay for the work done up to that point.
16. Working Hours
My normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 10am to 6:30pm.
I can sometimes help in the evening or at the weekend. This is by arrangement.
An out-of-hours rate may apply. I will always agree this with you before the visit is booked.
